“Museum island of modern architecture”

Kulturforum with redesigned foyer landscape

The Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation brings together some of Berlin’s most important museums, libraries, archives and research institutes under one umbrella. Through a variety of construction projects, the Foundation is preserving and modernising its buildings and continuously developing its sites. One of these buildings is the Kulturforum, a historic place of art, knowledge and architecture. The fully redesigned foyer serves as the main entrance for different museums.

COLLECTIONS WITH INTERNATIONAL APPEAL ++ The Kulturforum houses four of the Foundation’s five members, including the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. With over four million visitors each year and approximately 4.7 million objects from art, archaeology and ethnology, they are among the world’s biggest universal museums.

INTERIOR FINISHING FOR THE “CRUCIBLE OF CULTURE” ++ The foyer of the Kulturforum, a flagship site for the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, brings together in one place cash desk and cloakroom facilities for the surrounding museums. The redesign of the main entrance, which was put out to public tender, involved many collaborators, including foundation executives, a variety of stakeholders from the museums and design and supervising architects, as well as our own interior finishing team.
