The black counters in the central room stand out from the predominantly titanium-coloured metal fashion displays and wall cabinets. The furniture is further emphasized by the partially coloured, partially opaque glass elements of various colour schemes. For example, the black-lacquered glass of the Timepieces Wall contrasts well with the titan-coloured showcase tables immediately in front of it. Moreover, the white satin, backlit glass wall of the Sunglass Panel turns the legendary Porsche Design sunglasses into real eye-catchers. In a more subtle approach, the use of colours on the shelves is worth a look, with their grey and black lacquer finish and their titanium-coloured metal frames.
To successfully unify the new colour and material concept with the design specifications and Porsche Design’s required functionality was the real shopfitting challenge. As part of the shops’ relaunch, the wooden bodies of the showcase tables, for example, were covered with metal to achieve the desired design consistency all around.
That titanium grey was chosen as the primary focus of the colour and material concept was no coincidence, however. After all, the colour has always played an important role for Porsche Design when it came to watches and eyewear. Titanium, both as a colour and material, evolves into a symbol of sporty elegance which is expressed not only in the design of the shop, but also in all products found within it. It symbolizes the functional, timeless and purist design and the high standards of innovation of Porsche Design.
